Why I started it
I wanted to bring together two things I spend time on: following business and technology, and building software. A news feed can tell you what happened without helping you understand the underlying decision. PersoNewsAP explores a more structured format, combining current information with explanation and active learning. The intended habit is about five minutes a day.
Four connected formats
The personalized newsletter follows the reader’s interests. Business stories look at companies and the decisions behind their development. Mini cases ask the reader to make a choice and then explain the reasoning. Key concepts provide a short introduction to a useful idea. The experience is designed in both French and English, rather than treating one language as an afterthought.
Building the product
The work covers onboarding, topic preferences, a daily reading screen, previous editions, reading progress, language changes and notification preferences. The mobile application uses Expo and React Native with TypeScript, with Supabase supporting the data layer. I have also worked on the transition from a web product to a mobile experience and on private iOS distribution through TestFlight.
The content system
Behind the reading experience is a process for collecting sources, planning an edition, drafting content in both languages, validating its structure, reviewing it and preparing delivery. News, cases and stories need different instructions and checks. Questions and answer feedback must also fit the educational purpose of the format. This has made editorial quality part of the product work itself.
What the difficult details taught me
Some of the most useful work has involved details a reader should never have to think about: which edition belongs to which day across time zones, what happens to read status after a language change, and how notification preferences relate to device permissions. These problems made me pay closer attention to the difference between implementing a feature and making it dependable.
Where the project stands
PersoNewsAP remains in development and has been through private testing on iOS. My focus is on the quality and consistency of the content, the reading experience and reliable delivery. The project has become a way to learn how the product, data, editorial and operational sides of an application fit together.
