When Sports Get Serious

As sport becomes more demanding, it changes the decisions around it: time, education, expectations and the place of the rest of life. This book considers those commitments and the trade-offs that come with pursuing a more serious sporting path.

The transition toward university sport in the United States is part of the experience behind this work. The focus is on understanding the decisions and the people involved, rather than presenting one route as the right answer for everyone.
